Antidote Yoga is a modern yoga practice for athletes with a functional approach to their body and mind. Vigorous yet calming, this practice is designed to cultivate flow in the body and stillness in the mind.

Yoga is not just a physical exercise and a set of poses. “Yoga” means union — union of body and mind, union of oneself with something greater. It’s a ritualistic practice that cultivates full-body strength, inner peace, and a peak state. A state of being where the mind-body connection is in balance and flow. The practice starts from the body and extends into the mind and the subtle connection between body and mind. It becomes meditation and philosophy.

Yoga is an internal exercise; what happens underneath the surface of the postures is where the deep-rooted changes to our mind and emotions occur. Through postures, breathing, and meditation, the practice supports and encourages the body to find balance through its innate self-regulatory mechanism. Our physical body is designed and structured to function by itself without much of our intervention. There is an intelligence at work within us that is far beyond our logical minds. Yoga not only helps us to realize this but allows us to access that intelligence inside of us.

The practice challenges the body with strong movements while utilizing the breath to calm the mind. The synchronizing of physical movement with the breath allows you to create a deeper level of awareness and trust in the body. It becomes a rhythmic moving meditation that increases strength, flexibility, stability, calmness, and focus.

In a world constantly looking for the newest trend, we can go back to the ancient practice of yoga to bring about strength, balance, and calmness.
